Allow 1cm variance for all garment measurements (as an example a 56cm garment measurement has a variance of 55-57cm. Please factor that into deciding on the size to order.)

⊙ We have shown the Body measurement for the full bust in the size chart above. Body measurements are approximates.
⊙ For the Full Bust Body measurement measure around your body: under your arms and around the fullest part of your bust.
⊙ For finished garment measurements, please scroll further down this page. *Note: Using finished garments measurements is the best way to work out your size.
⊙ Fit guide for Waist: The sizes XXS to S are fitted at the waist; sizes Medium & Large are slightly fitted at the waist; and from XL and up the waist size is the same as the bust size. For the Everyday Shirt which has a relaxed fit, XXS to S are slightly fitted at waist, and from M upwards the waist is not fitted and matches the bust measurement.
⊙ Darts: Please note that the darts shown in the image - the seam which is just below the pockets - are only on the smaller sizes which are fitted, as the dart seam is used to pull in the waist. For the larger sizes which are not fitted, the darts are absent as the waist is not pulled in by the dart seam. Medium and sizes upwards therefore do not have darts.

⊙ Garment Measurement - the best way to work out the size you need: To assist you with choosing the right size, we have also included the garment measurements for the Half Bust for this shirt below. If you are not sure which size to order, we recommend checking both the body and garment measurements - but using garments measurements is the best way to work out your size. If you are still not sure about your size please do contact us so we may assist you, before you order. It may also be a good idea to first place a smaller order to check on your size, and then place a larger order once you are sure of your size.

⊙ How to Measure the half bust garment measurement for this shirt:
-Select a long sleeve, button-up, collared shirt which you own and which is a good fit - and which looks similar in design to the shirt which you are ordering.
-Place the shirt flat on a table. The half bust measurement is made from the point where each sleeve meets the bust area of the shirt, across the front of the shirt, as shown on the image below.
-It is important that you gently pull the shirt flat from each side so that it is truly as flat as it can be, as we have shown in the image below. No creases or wrinkles as that will affect the measurement.
-Record the measurement for your shirt in either inches or centimeters.
-Compare the measurement to our size chart to determine the size to order, as follows:
1. Lets say that your measurement comes to 53cm / 20.6 inches across the half bust.
2. Allow 1cm tolerance for our size chart (the international standard for all clothing measurements). As an example, with the international tolerance included, our Medium shirt in the garment size chart below is 'allowed' to measure between 54 and 56cm, as the half bust measurement is 55cm.
3. For your shirt which measured 53cm / 20.6 inches, we would suggest that you order a Medium shirt. If you wanted a tighter fit you could also go for a Small, but Medium would be our suggestion. A little too loose is better than a little too tight.

Meticulously tested and refined for efficacy, this women's outdoor & safari shirt is the latest upgrade to our BUGTech™ fabric. It has been designed to offer the same insect defence, sun protection, and wicking properties with an unparalleled soft, luxurious feel to the fabric. This technical shirt is truly a pleasure to wear.

Developed to perform in the sometimes extreme conditions in the outdoors & on safari, this shirt boasts a range of features for Africa, outdoors, and travel. Very importantly, it is made to be as stylish as it is functional in a classic, flattering design.

BUGTech™: It's In the Fabric of Who We Are
⊙ The mantra behind our Rufiji™ and Mara&Meru™ clothing is "No marketing hype - just the facts" - and so we embarked on intensive in-house and independent testing to make sure BUGTech™ performed.
⊙ BUGTech™ fabric has been proven in independent tests by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) Pesticide Trial Section to effectively repel mosquitoes. Please view the test results in the images above. We know of no other manufacturer willing to publish their results.
⊙ The active ingredient in our BUGTech™ fabric is permethrin, which is used at the ultra low dosage of 500ppm. Permethrin is a man-made version of a natural insect repellent found in certain Chrysanthemum plants. BUGTech™ utilises a proprietary permethrin formula to provide effective, odourless insect defence.
⊙ BUGTech™ is effective against most biting insects. The formula which we apply to give BUGTech™ its anti-insect properties should also give protection against bites from a host of insects including mosquitoes, ticks, midges, bed bugs, fleas, and ants. This is according to the makers of the formula which gives BUGTech™ the anti-insect finish. Note that we have only tested BUGTech™ for use against mosquitoes.
⊙ The wicking effect of many anti-insect clothing brands is retarded by the addition of anti-insect finish. This traps heat and can be very uncomfortable. In developing BUGTech™, we wanted to ensure our clients got the technical benefits of our highly-successful SAFARITech fabric with added invaluable insect defence. We have tested and compared BUGTech™ and SAFARITech and concluded that the wicking has not been affected by the anti-insect treatment of our BUGTech™ garments.
⊙ Biting flies (such as the tsetse fly): We make no claim that BUGTech™ will work against tsetse flies and other biting flies. In our experience - and after many field tests in tsetse and biting fly areas - Bushman is the best product when it comes to deterring biting flies, but we do not claim that it gives 100% protection (as nothing we know of is able to do that). When in tsetse fly areas, apply Bushman frequently and generously. Shop for Bushman by going to: Accessories - Insect Repellents.
⊙ BUGTech™ lasts approximately 20 washes. Note that, for any anti-insect finish on a garment, you should always back up the garment with a good insect repellent. It is worth noting too that the tight weave of our BUGTech™ (and SAFARITech fabric) has been shown to also offer a measure of protection against mosquitoes.

This shirt features our new, smaller ripstop fabric, making it ultra-lightweight and durable. With built-in UPF50+, this long-sleeve shirt is a packing essential to protect your skin from the sun. The double roll-up sleeve tabs on each sleeve keeps rolled sleeves out of the way and looking good as the day heats up and during activities in the outdoors & on safari. These are especially handy on active safaris and you will be glad to have them should your shirt get wet on a canoe safari. This shirt also has a handy sunglasses loop, so you can hook your glasses to your shirt with a little added peace of mind.

Mostly, this shirt is designed to be travel-friendly. It releases wrinkles quickly, but also dries fast for your convenience. The anti-microbial formula also keeps your shirt smelling fresh between washes. Together with its wicking properties, the +Vent system achieves optimal ventilation for warm-weather destinations and adventure travel.

* The BUGtech™ fabric can be worn by all ages. The active ingredient has been approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for application onto textiles and clothing. It is non-leaching. I.e. it won't transfer from the fabric / garment onto the wearer's skin.
* While the sunglasses loop reduces the chances of losing your glasses, it may not prevent them falling from your shirt in every instance. Please always be vigilant when it comes to your precious eye wear.

Bought two of these for my safari trip in March. These are great. Really light weight, was able to wear each two to three times before I felt they needed to be washed. They dry super fast and don't look overly creased after hand washing it on the sink. Most importantly, I did not get any mosquito bites (and I attract them!) and I did not get sun burned. I highly recommend this shirt.

I have used this shirt every second day for 4 weeks in the Jungle in Asia. I just love it. It sits perfect, it is great to wear, and it still looks new after my jungle trip ! I am thinking about getting a second one for my next trip!

We spent the last week in October in the South Luangwa River Valley. These were perfect! We were cool, dry, bite and burn free. Easy to pack. And you have the BEST customer service. Really, outstanding.
